A5 & IS101-3004 Wrap-up

Before I took IS101-3004 class I thought I already know how to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. I am wrong, I only know the basics. As I went through the course, I learned a lot of things like formatting, functions, slide masters, and more. Now, as I am about to finish this class I can now say that I have the knowledge to use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, not just the basics. Well, all thanks to this class.

Regarding the A5 Slideshow Presentation, I am glad I did it. I got to create my own slideshow from scratch. Compared to my first slideshow where I only use templates, I liked my slideshow now. I did my best creating it while preparing for my finals too. I am glad that I learned how to manage my time well. Honestly, I thought I wouldn't be able to do it, but thankfully I did.

Take Aways From Chapters 4 & 5 and Thoughts About Finishing IS101-3004 Soon!

For Chapter 4, I chose LabSim skill 4.4.1 (Paragraph and Line Spacing). As a college student, I do a lot of essays for my other classes but for some reason I always have this wrong line spacing that I don’t know how to adjust in few clicks only. I also make reviewers for my other classes. So, I really find this section helpful because I learned how to adjust the line spacing before or after a specific paragraph or the line spacing of the entire document.

For Chapter 5, I chose 5.6.1 (Formulas and Function). Well, I haven't tried using Excel outside LabSim but as a business major student who plans to own a business in the future, having enough knowledge with Excel is an advantage when it comes to tracking your business’s growth.

I envision myself finishing IS101-3004 smoothly to be honest, especially if I maintain my pace right now. Of course, with the help of Professor Wu, I think I would finish the class with new skills that I learned from my IS101-3004 class.

IS101 Class Enhanced my Knowledge in Managing Files

Before I start sharing my first two weeks in college, I would like to share what I felt the day before college started. The night before the first week of class I was really nervous; I don’t know what to expect, especially since I am from another country and I am still not used to this new environment that I am in right now. Saturday came, I woke up early to prepare for my 8am class, I had to book a ride for me to attend school that day, and it was so expensive! Right after I arrived at CSN (College of Southern Nevada), the first thing I did was to find my class and I am glad that it is not that hard to find. The first week was all about professors explaining the syllabus, so it’s not yet busy. Then the second week came, I started adjusting with my schedule because I have classes from Monday to Saturday. IS101 tasks made me productive, I also learned to manage my time and do some work whenever I have free time during the weekdays. So far, I am still adjusting with everything, but with the help of Professor Wu, I think I am doing good on the course so far.

As I was going through the course, I learned a lot of things, but I chose the LabSim task 2.3.10 Applied Lab: Manage Files. Taking different classes in college sometimes requires us to save some files related to our projects or assignments in a specific class. Learning how to manage our files is a huge help in organizing our projects or assignments. I currently have a photography class wherein we need to store our photographs in a specific folder to keep our files organized, that’s why I find this task really helpful.

First Impression of IS101 and CSN

I was amazed with the resources that CSN (College of Southern Nevada) could offer to their students. Like for example the free tutoring for students who need help academically. I have not been in a school or university wherein they offer free tutoring to their students, not until I became a student at College of Southern Nevada.  I will surely use the free tutoring whenever I need help academically.

I have a nice impression with IS101, specifically with the section I am in right now. The first professor that reached me before college started was my professor in IS101.
