Before I start sharing my first two weeks in college, I would like to share what I felt the day before college started. The night before the first week of class I was really nervous; I don’t know what to expect, especially since I am from another country and I am still not used to this new environment that I am in right now. Saturday came, I woke up early to prepare for my 8am class, I had to book a ride for me to attend school that day, and it was so expensive! Right after I arrived at CSN (College of Southern Nevada), the first thing I did was to find my class and I am glad that it is not that hard to find. The first week was all about professors explaining the syllabus, so it’s not yet busy. Then the second week came, I started adjusting with my schedule because I have classes from Monday to Saturday. IS101 tasks made me productive, I also learned to manage my time and do some work whenever I have free time during the weekdays. So far, I am still adjusting with everything, but with the help of Professor Wu, I think I am doing good on the course so far.
As I was going through the course, I learned a lot of things, but I chose the LabSim task 2.3.10 Applied Lab: Manage Files. Taking different classes in college sometimes requires us to save some files related to our projects or assignments in a specific class. Learning how to manage our files is a huge help in organizing our projects or assignments. I currently have a photography class wherein we need to store our photographs in a specific folder to keep our files organized, that’s why I find this task really helpful.
Hello Karylle, I am glad you a part of this class and hope the adjustment to a new country has treated you well and hope the best for you in the future.
ReplyDeleteYou could not have said it any better. IS101 has been revealing, and i have personally learnt a lot.
ReplyDeleteStarting college in a new country sounds like such a big adjustment, but it’s great to hear that you’re settling in well! It’s awesome that IS101 tasks are helping you stay productive and manage your time effectively.
ReplyDeleteHi Karylle,
ReplyDeleteYou're honestly so brave. Moving to a new country and then also going to school at the same time is beautiful. You're doing amazing in this class, which just proves you're probably doing amazing in all your other classes, and that's wonderful. Also, the rides to class are super expensive I agree with you lol.
Hey Karylle! It’s interesting how much you’re learning in IS101, even with skills you already had from using computers regularly. The part about safely removing a USB stood out to me—it’s one of those things you don’t think twice about until it’s taught. Your take on balancing tasks while starting fresh in a new country takes some serious dedication. I loved reading about how IS101 is helping with your transition!
ReplyDeleteHi Karylle, I also found myself being nervous on my first day in college. Even now in my second year of college, I still get a little nervous on the first day of classes but not as nervous. I still do the same arriving as early as I can on the first day of classes in order to have time to find the classroom and make sure I am in the correct place.
ReplyDeleteHey Karylle, I also agree big time with document management. At my job its super important to keep track of everything and to know where to refer to when needed!
ReplyDeleteIts crazy how you are having a completely new experience in a different country. I was there at one point too I think you will enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteHi Karylle. It is a big adjustment moving to a new country and starting college. I am glad you are in this class. You have proven that you are an accomplished student, and I believe you will do well in all of your classes.
